Drawing and painting have always been integral parts of Edith's life; during childhood and adolescence she often decorated her notebook margins with graphic inspirations (illustrations?) When she was young she was discouraged from pursuing an artistic career and so studied marketing and food science instead and later worked in these fields for a few years. The situation completely changed in 1991 when she followed her husband abroad for his work. She lived in various places including Japan, Singapore and Dubai. During these years Edith was able to satisfy her artistic passion and enrolled for training in various art academies as well as studying with art teachers in each new location. These experiences enhanced her taste for observation, precision and rigour. After about 15 years she and her husband returned to Europe and have since lived in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon and,as of 2018, in Geneva. Throughout her career Edith has perfected her skills in various techniques. In Japan she worked with: ink on rice paper, on gold leaf and Japanese gouaches on wood panels and silk. In Singapore she studied Chinese watercolor at the Nangyan Academy of Fine Arts. At the Putney School of Arts and Design in London she worked on portraits in pencil and oil. In Dubai along with a Tunisian artist she portrayed street scenes in watercolor. She shared an artist's studio in Amsterdam and opened her own atelier in Lisbon which she shared with other painters. Now in her Geneva atelier she helps other painters make progress with different techniques

Living abroad in such a broad range of cities has enriched her artistic life in many aspects. LIGHT remains the basis to express her emotions. It is the framework for her painting and is a continual source of inspiration... Edith's favourite subjects remain diverse and are inspired by her intuitive feelings and nature. Nevertheless, it is the graphic aspect that most attracts her and guides her painting. Edith has done oil painting since 1996 and has participated in numerous exhibitions in: Singapore, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Dübendorf and Geneva. In 2018 she also participated in illustrating Claire Baudoin's guide entitled "Discover Lisbon and Its Region".
My work as a painter has a form of classicism which I hold dear. I use linen or cotton and oil colors and I work mainly with a brush.
